MOON ART GROUNDS
Before Moon Art Grounds became an immersive museum, this hillside site in Yongin, South Korea began as a working artist’s studio. A quiet retreat built for creation and exhibition.
Construction started in 1985, and by 1986, the first opening welcomed local artists. Across nearly four decades, the space has evolved while preserving its original spirit of imagination. Studios became galleries, galleries became archives, and the building itself became a canvas of memory, shaped by each generation of artists and makers who passed through.
Moon Art Grounds doesn’t erase that legacy, it extends it. Every wall, beam, and pathway holds traces of those early years of experimentation.
Today, the museum continues that lineage, blending fine art, design, and atmosphere to create something alive, intimate, and deeply human.
Moon Art Grounds, as it exists today, was designed not as a new construction but as a reawakening. The transformation honored the bones of the 1980s structure while opening the space to light, air, and emotion.
The result is a living museum where guests wander through three distinct worlds. The expansive Moon Gallery, the contemplative Archive, and the cinematic Silver Screen. Each echoes the balance between past and present.
The focus was to make the museum more accessible and to reimagine the traditional museum experience, creating a place where everyone, from children to their parents, can explore, connect, and find inspiration together.
Through thoughtful environmental design and spatial focus, the museum was shaped to make the art feel like an integral part of the space and the visitors feel like an essential part of the art. Each of the three unique spaces offers something different, providing experiences that can engage everyone in their own way.
Every space holds a memory.
Moon Art Grounds simply invites you to walk inside it.
Moon Art Grounds welcomes schools, teachers, and students to experience art in ways that spark imagination, dialogue, and discovery.
